N95 respirators and masks are the ideal personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect the health and safety workers from contamination by airborne particles, such as the SARS-CoV2 virus. Various leading institutes that are recognized names in the industry such as The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have all recommended the use of N95 respirators in their guidelines for protection and safety against the COVID-19 various along with various other viruses and particles.
Interestingly, the Venus and Magnum N95 masks are some of the top PPE manufactured products across the world. While both might seem similar on the surface as N95 masks, they come with a few differences that distinguish them. Here is an evaluative comparison of the efficacy and performance of both of these N95 masks.
Venus N95 masks
Manufactured according to the NIOSH standards, Venus N95 masks are made to be lightweight with a tough, collapse-resistant structure. The mask provides more than 95% protection against airborne particles. It is a comfortable and adjustable respirator for complete protection against sub-micron particles, fine dust and biological organisms such as bacteria and viruses like SARS and SARS-CoV2. It is manufactured using a material that is skin friendly and resilient to wear and tear or extreme temperatures.
The Venus N95 mask is created using a novel micro-fine filter technology for extra protection against airborne contaminants. The mask offers a superior leak-proof fit and provides a butterfly vent valve for comfortable breathing. It also uses activated carbon, which is used to filter out odours. The mask has an aluminium clip and a braided latex-free textile elastic band that is sown outside the filter area. Meeting the standards laid down as per CDC guidelines, the mask has received its approval number, classified as TC-84A-7516.
Apart from the abovementioned functions, Venus N95 masks function as particulate filter respirators, protecting the user solid particles, dust, oil and mist. Furthermore, they are also used as anti clogging (NRD) masks. Highly rated for its efficiency and performance, the Venus N95 mask resists clogging in extremely dusty environment and has qualified the dolomite test.
Magnum N95 masks
The Magnum N95 masks have also been approved by the NIOSH and CDC. These masks are manufactured to offer great comfort with their lightweight structure to allow them to be worn throughout the day. With a cushioned adjustable nose clip on the inside, these masks are reliable, durable and can be worn while performing any work, as the adjustable nose clip ensures that the mask remains in place. The mask also has a welded elastic head strap to ensure that the mask fits perfectly.
The Magnum N95 mask offers complete protection against the SARS-CoV2, H1N1 and influenza viruses and other solid particles. Tested to perform better than the 3M 8210 respirator, this mask provides a small and medium fit and is classified as TC-84A-9050. Furthermore, it has been reported to provide superior protection against dust and particles through rigorous testing.
